We are pleased to invite you to participate in the 6th Interdisciplinary Scientific Conference Mathematical Transgressions, organized by the Institute of Mathematics of the University of the National Education Commission in Krakow. This year this conference will be held in a hybrid format:
3 – 4 June 2024 – international part with all the sessions run remotely (conference language: English)
5 – 6 June 2024 – national part with all the sessions organized stationary in Krakow (conference language: Polish)
We are going to exceed the boundaries of mathematics again, and examine issues surrounding mathematics and its pedagogy together with researchers from all over the world who represent not only different scientific disciplines, but also different cultures, and thus may bring fresh perspectives to our discussions. We warmly invite especially mathematicians, mathematics educators, psychologists, philosophers and teachers of mathematics who are interested in transforming mathematics education and making it better for all the students.
We invite all the contributors to develop their own understanding of the concept of transgression examined in relation to mathematics, its history, philosophy and pedagogy.
We propose the following thematic areas for the conference but we encourage you to extend and enrich that list:
α – Transgressions in the history and philosophy of mathematics and their significance for mathematics education
β – Psychological transgressions in the teaching and learning of mathematics
γ – Philosophy of mathematical practice
δ – Unconventional approaches to the teaching of mathematics
ε – STEM education
